    Procrastinate much?

    Posted by twit2knit on August 4, 2011

I’ve been working on a seemless cardigan called Gaia by Kristen TenDyke, it’s a very quick knit and the pattern is well written. For some reason I’ve been putting off doing the button bands, yes that’s all I’ve left to do, oh and the weaving in and sewing on buttons and blocking but almost all the actual knitting is done.

I thought if I posted here about it, it may actually spur me on to complete this cardigan, one can only hope that is the case.

I’ve used Robin Aran with wool in colour graphite and size 5mm(US8) needles.

Seen how I was procrastinating with Gaia, I decided to cast on for a pattern that’s been in my queue for an age.  Angela Sixian Wu’s Three Tams, I did tam A. I used Robin DK and King Cole Baby Comfort DK, with 3.5mm(US4) and 4mm(US6) needles. Now this was a real quick knit and so satisfying, looks way more complicated than it is. The only snag was the pattern omitted a detail about the decreases, before starting each decrease round, move the last completed stitch from the previous round back to the left needle. The moved stitch becomes the 1st stitch of the decrease round. Jennichrys on Ravelry, thank you for the explanation.

    I know it’s bright….

    Posted by twit2knit on August 20, 2009

    But I don’t care as I like it 😀

It’s a vest by kessa Tay Anlin called Blush, I decided as I’m most likely to wear this when the weather is dull and chilly I wanted something nice and bright to cheer me up. Teamed with black trousers and a nice crisp white shirt/blouse I think it’ll look fine.

I’m using 4.5mm (US7) circs, the purple yarn is Sirdar Country Style DK and the lime yarn is Yarnfair Double Knitting, I’m making the 40inch as this top supposidly has a lot of negative ease, just hope it doesn’t turn out too big…we shall see.

    Finished the stranded hat.

    Posted by twit2knit on July 25, 2009

I’ve finally had time to do some knitting and managed to finish my Selbu Modern, I’m in love with it. I never realised how much fun stranded knitting could be, think I may give the Endpaper Mitts a go 🙂

Just waiting for it to completely dry before I can try it on.

    First Colourwork Knitting

    Posted by twit2knit on July 10, 2009

I didn’t realise lace knitting was supposed to be hard until after I’d made the kiri shawl and read that lace was difficult. As I didn’t know I just got on with it and have had quite a bit of success.

Colourwork on the other hand has always given me the heeby geebies and I’ve avoided it for a long time, until I came across this beret pattern. I just love the subtle colours in the Selbu Modern that I had to give it a go. Okay, it’s only two colours and the pattern is written so well that it’s easy, I don’t know what I was so scared of.

It’s certainly wetted my appitite and although the beret isn’t yet finished I’m already on the look out for a yoked jumper/cardigan with a nice colourwork pattern. I don’t want an all over pattern as I think my body shape wouldn’t suit that but something with just a touch of interest should be fine. So the hunt is on.
