So long since I last posted eeep!

    Posted by twit2knit on April 7, 2011

I can not believe it has been so long since I last posted, usual excuse life just got in the way blugh!

So what have I been up to I hear you ask? Well let me tell you, I’ve started so many projects only to realise I wasn’t in love with them as much as I thought I was and have since frogged them. I hate frogging as it annoys me that I’ve spent time working on them in the first place only to realise I not really that keen on them.

So, on to the things I have completed:

First up is a crochet bag, I didn’t follow a pattern for this one. I still had some of the  Donegal silk tweed left over from the Cobblestone I made for my dad and decided I wanted to use it for something, so a crochet bag it was to be. With the aran weight yarn and a 4.5mm(US 7) hook I just winged it and came up with this –

I added a huge white button for the closure. Will have to see if I can get a better picture, but I do like the bag and it holds so much stuff.

Next up is a balaclava I made to keep the neck warm without running the risk of getting a scarf caught in anything. The pattern is by Nanette Blanchard and is free, always a bonus. For this I used about 1.5 balls of Rico Design Kids Classic Aran in colour 015 Stone with 4.5mm(US7) and 5mm(US8) dpn’s. It was a very quick knit and used a lot less yarn than I thought it would.

Last but not least, I made another shawl. Azzu’s Shawl by Emma Fassio, I used Robin British Courtelle Double Knit 100g and 4mm(US6) needles. This was a quick simple knit, although due to yardage issues I did omit rows 105 through 116.

The last picture shows the true colours.

I’ve another shawl blocking right now, as soon as that’s done I’ll take some pictures and let you all see. Also great news, I heard about a new yarn shop right here in Manchester, Purl City Yarns. Going to take a trip tomorrow and blow the bank balance 🙂

    My Sienna

    Posted by twit2knit on July 26, 2010

I finished my Sienna Cardigan yesterday and wore it out to lunch, it’s very cosy. I used 5mm (US8) needles and Rowan Denim yarn in colourway Nashville.

I had a little trouble with the lace pattern in the original pattern so I changed it for twisted eyelet cable instead. The hardest part of this knit was all the sewing together at the end, so not fond of seaming 😦

    Great Hat Pattern

    Posted by twit2knit on December 17, 2009

Whilst browsing Ravelry I came across a great hat pattern Shroom by Lee Juvan, I managed to make it in an evening.

I used Sirdar Click Chunky with Wool in the colour Bloom, 6mm(US10) and 8mm(US11) circs and think it came out real well and looks quite cute on.

Sorry for the poor pictures but trying to take a piccy of yourself wearing a hat is harder then it seems 🙂

    A New Shawl

    Posted by twit2knit on November 6, 2009

I’ve been feeling a little cold recently, the solution a new shawl just for me 🙂

I used 4.5mm(US 7) needles and King Cole’s Zig Zag yarn in 741 deep purple. I didn’t follow a pattern just cast on and knit until I thought it was big enough, then I just increased as many stitches as I wanted for the ruffled border.

I’ve also just started a baby cardigan/balero type thing called Iris from Let’s knit issue 22.

    New Ink

    Posted by twit2knit on October 15, 2009

I got some pretty flowers on my foot as a cover-up I love them, think they make my other tattoo (the kids names) look prettier as well.

Unfortunately during the healing the dogs jumped on my foot and scratched off the scab, this led to a bit of infection. It’s not healed completely yet so I’ve no idea if I’ll need to get it touched up, but I still love it 🙂
